I'm Perfectly Mediocre!! See? Good Things CAN Happen When You're Aiming Low!!

I honestly could not be more excited to be perfectly mediocre than I am this very moment.  I have aimed low and it has finally served me well.   I have managed to achieve a goal by doing nothing more than drinking coffee, sitting around in my pajamas and being irreverent, immature and anything but serious.  Oh, and narcissistic, don't forget narcissistic.

I've found a lifestyle that suits me perfectly and I've decided I'm going to stick with it.

Of course, a gal can't make mediocrity work in the real world without the help of some perfectly non mediocre people to boost them up.

"What the hell are you talking about?  Have you been sniffing the glue sticks again?"

Okay, here it is in a nutbag nutshell.

Aiming Low is hosting it's first annual Non-Con.  I was upset, knowing I wouldn't be able to go to another blogging conference on the heels of BlogHer.  I can't afford that.  I could barely afford the first one.  But this wasn't just any conference.  It was Aiming Low, a humor website that specializes in that thing I do - humor writing.  And it's scaled down for a more personal experience where attendees can spend more time interacting and less time simply taking notes.  I broached the subject with the Hubby.  It just wasn't doable.

And then the clouds parted.  The wonderful people at Simply Sassy Media had an essay contest, wherein they were sending two bloggers to the conference and all those bloggers had to do was come up with an essay telling them why they feel SSM should send them.

I put my nose to the grindstone...er...keyboard.  I got jacked up on mocha chino and I wrote this.
Then after that, it was a lot of crossing of digits and extremities and praying to the Goddess and chanting Ohm....ohm....ohmigoddess...i hope i win... (not really).

And you know what?

I won.

I WON!!

Holy mother of flapjackjeezus!! I won this thing??

Wait a minute...back up...me?

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either.

But it wasn't only me.  It really is win-win, because two of us won. Lisa Weidknecht of Planet Weidknecht won too! We're going to be roomies.  Congratulations Lisa! On winning...not on being my roomie.  Although, I do think that makes you incredibly lucky.  Believe me, you're in for a real treat.  Just wait until I hog the bathroom, break into spontaneous song for no reason, snore.  Oh, you'll be enthralled.

So, here's what's going to happen.

First, I'm going to Staples and I'm gettin' me that beaded lanyard I've had my eye on.  Luckily, I just got a bracelet on Etsy that will look fabulous with it.  So accessories are taken care of, which is very important.

Then I'm going to go to the closet and retrieve the box containing the 400 business cards that languish there since they didn't home with anybody after BlogHer.

Next, in October, I am going to head to Georgia, where I will report my findings to you via this blog and social network.  Since it will be my second conference and I know the ropes just a little bit better, I will attempt to be a little more on top of things with the communications to you, my readers, from said event.

But for now, a huge thank you to Simply Sassy Media and to everyone who takes the time to read my blog, comment and send me words of encouragement and support.  I truly appreciate it!!

Here's to Aiming Low!!

This is me! Yeah...not really.

  6. Congrats, sounds like fun! Always enjoy reading your blog, but only in a middle-of-the-road sort of way. I don't get too excited, but I'm never bored with it. So yay, perfect!

  7. Congratulations, you must be so proud of your above to not so above averageness. Yay. Also as a sidebar I forgot how much I love saying 'see?' at the end of sentences like a 1920's gangster. I had replaced it with Shut up now, shut up now is the new see? See?

    1. On the average, I pretty much embrace my average-ibility. My 47%ness...which used to be my 99%ness, it lost 52 somewhere...See, I look at it this way...if I'm reveling in my low grade greatness, everything else is gravy. Sort of lumpy gravy. ;) See, Boss? Ah... you dirty rat...you killed my brother...
